How to know if your website is trusted by Google and your customers

Have you ever seen a "not secure" message in your screen while navigating the internet? Well, chances are that customers get that same message when they visit your website if you don't have a SSL Certificate (Secure Sockets Layer).

Many business owners fail to get a SSL Certificate, but let me tell you why this is important. Google has announced that they will stop showing all HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) pages or the Not Secured ones. You may ask why? And this is because Google wants the trusted and certified websites that have SSL, specially HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) sites.

Not sure what's the difference between HTTP and HTTPS? Well, look up at your search bar, it will either say HTTP or HTTPS at the beginning. If the site shows HTTPS then it means this site is secure, but if it shows HTTP, you should be worried because the site is not secure and most likely Google will stop including your search rankings.

Google wants to make sure any information submitted is protected from spammers or hackers, HTTPS sites are secured at storing or sending sensitive information. Customers won't trust a website with a "Not Secure" message and most likely leave the page. As business owners we do our best to keep our customers safe and we are always trying to earn their trust but, it will not work if your website is not secure.

What happens if I keep my HTTP site? Easy, loss in Google ranking or higher user bounce rates. But, don't worry there is a solution for this. If your website has an SSL certificate, Google won't show the "Not Secure" message and this will also convert your site from HTTP to HTTPS and users will trust your page. dotFRONT will be more than happy to help you get the SSL certificate.
